Russian Volume vs Classic Lashes: Which Is Right for You?

It is the question we get asked most at our Wallsend studio. You have seen the names on the menu, you know you want lashes, but how on earth do you pick between classic and Russian volume? Here is the straight talking version we give every new client.

What are classic lashes?

Classic lashes are a one to one application. One single extension is bonded to one of your natural lashes. The result is longer, darker, more defined lashes that still look like your own, just better.

Classics are perfect if:

• You want a subtle, everyday enhancement
• You already have reasonable natural lashes
• You prefer a mascara like finish without wearing mascara
• You work in a more corporate environment and want polish, not drama

What are Russian volume lashes?

Russian volume uses ultra fine extensions hand fanned into bouquets of two to six lashes and applied to each natural lash. The fans are lightweight, and because they are so fine, you can wear far more volume without weighing your lashes down.

Russian volume is perfect if:

• You want a fuller, fluffier, more dramatic look
• Your natural lashes are sparse or short
• You love the look of a strip lash but hate the daily faff
• You want maximum impact that still feels soft and feathery

The key differences

A few clear points to help you decide.

Look. Classic is defined and natural. Volume is full, fluffy, and dramatic.

Weight. Both are lightweight when done properly. A skilled tech will never overload your natural lash, regardless of style.

Maintenance. Both last the same with proper care. Infills every two to three weeks.

Cost. Volume is a longer, more skilled application, so it costs a little more. But a well done volume set lasts longer because the fans are balanced and evenly distributed.

What about hybrids?

Hybrids are a blend of classic and volume. A mix of one to one classics and handmade volume fans, giving you a textured, spiky, lived in look that photographs beautifully. Popular with our Wallsend and Newcastle clients who cannot quite decide between the two.
