How to Make Your Lash Extensions Last Longer
Simple, honest aftercare tips from a Wallsend lash specialist. Get more weeks out of every set, protect your natural lashes, and look incredible between appointments.

If you have just had a fresh set of lashes at our Wallsend studio, the first 24 to 48 hours are the most important for retention. Here is exactly how we ask our clients across Tyne and Wear to care for their lashes so every set lasts as long as possible.
The first 24 hours matter most
Lash adhesive takes up to a day to fully cure. During that first day, keep your new lashes dry, avoid steam, skip the gym, and do not sleep face down. It sounds simple, but these are the small choices that decide whether your lashes last three weeks or six.
Water and steam in the first 24 hours weaken the bonds before they have properly set. If you have booked a fresh Russian Volume set before a big weekend, give yourself the day after to rest. Your lashes will reward you.
Cleanse gently, every day
The single biggest reason clients lose lashes early is a lack of cleansing. Oil, makeup residue, and the natural oils your skin produces all break down the adhesive over time.
Use a lash safe foaming cleanser every evening. Gently brush it through your lashes with a soft cleansing brush, rinse thoroughly with cool water, and pat dry with a clean towel. Never rub. Never use cotton pads, as the fibres catch on the extensions and pull them out.
Brush them every morning
A clean spoolie in the morning is your best friend. A quick brush lifts and separates, keeps your lashes looking groomed, and stops any minor twisting from becoming a full lash crisis.
Always brush from the middle of the lash outward. Never yank.
What to avoid
A short list of things that cut lash life in half:
- Oil based makeup removers, cleansers, or serums near the eye area
- Waterproof mascara (you do not need it with extensions anyway)
- Eyelash curlers of any kind
- Sleeping with your face pressed into the pillow
- Picking, pulling, or rubbing your eyes when tired
Most of these are habits, not events. Breaking them is the single biggest upgrade you can make to your lash game.
Book your infill on time
Lashes grow and shed on their own natural cycle. Most of our clients in Wallsend and across Newcastle rebook every two to three weeks for an infill. Leaving it longer means a full new set, which costs more and takes longer.
We send reminders through Fresha so you never forget. If you are unsure when your next appointment should be, we will always advise during your visit.
The honest truth
Lash extensions last as long as you take care of them. A client who cleanses daily, brushes every morning, and sleeps on their back will easily get four to five weeks from a set. A client who skips cleansing and sleeps face down might get two.
If you are in Wallsend, Newcastle, North Shields, or anywhere across Tyne and Wear, and you want a set of lashes that is built to last, we would love to see you. Book your Russian Volume appointment online through Fresha or get in touch to chat through what would suit you best.
